If you have two sets of company data installed, with different icons to start WCBPro in two different directories.
A. Before downloading the revised WCB PRO program you should:
-
locate the current WCB PRO program directory, generally named WCBPROW_V160, and (Note: If you are running the current WCB PRO program as a network application, locate the current WCB PRO program directory on the network drive.) The installation procedure will attempt to identify the current WCB PRO program directory, but it the directory has changed since the initial installation of the previous version of WCBPRO, it may not do so correctly, and you will have to override the value.
-
if there is a file setup.exe in that directory, then delete it
-
make a back-up copy of the complete WCB PRO program directory, or, at a minimum, make a back-up copy of the Data folder from your current WCB PRO program directory.

-
go to: http://www.wcbpro.ca/install2/setup-wcbpro.zip
-
download and save the setup-wcbpro.zip zipped file to a temporary directory,

follow the on-screen instructions.
-
It is important that you write down and keep track of which is the standard and which is the alternate
The program will convert or update your existing files or tables. You should see the tables being updated in the top right corner of your screen as they are being changed.
An icons with a red border is the standard version, and an icon with yellow border is the alternate version. In the start menu, the standard set of programs is under WCBPRO and the alternate under WCBPRO alternate.
Note: If the revised WCB PRO program will be run as a network application, you should:
-
run the installation program for the new WCB PRO program from each user’s workstation to allow certain files to be installed on the local workstation, and,
-
specify the directory for WCB PRO program files on the network drive. It is crucial that you run the standard and/or alternate setup corresponding to the correct directory on each workstation in exactly the same way
-
repeat this on each workstation, to ensure some system files get installed on each workstation.
C. Changing Short Cuts
If users use a short-cut to access the old (pre-2006)WCB PRO, the existing short cuts will still point to the old program and should be deleted. The installation process will install a new shortcut on the desktop, and in the Start->programs menu.
Install Notes
A. First time installation
-
When installing for the first time, the install process will need to update your existing data. A box will come up Press OK when FixTables program has completed.
-
At this point the FixTables will have started, but in some cases, the box showing it has started will not show. Try to close all other applications, and move around the screen to find it, and press OK on that box. If this is not possible, then Press OK on the message in #1, but ensure that FixTables starts and finishes before doing anything else.
- In total you will be pressing on OK three times.
B. PatchForm7
- At the end of the setup a separate process will run - PatchForm7. Ensure this completes before restarting WCBpro. If you have made custom changes to the the printed Form7 to adapt it to your printer, this program should notify you that the changes were re-installed. For most users, this program will indicate that nothing was changed.
Note that if you used the alternate installation prior to June 6, 2006, the second installation will have overwritten the desktop icons and start menu items for the standard install. This is rectified in the current version of setup and it will repair and/or install the icons correctly.
